Xomba For Dummies

Xomba For Dummies

Ok, I'll admit at first I was a little skeptical. One of the users here randomly added me on MySpace one day and they were telling me how they make a living off of Google Adsense through this site. At first I was like "wahhh?", and then he started explaining to me how Google Adsense works, and how he makes money off of it through Xomba. Well, it's true, but hang on just a second! It definitely isn't worth quitting your day job.. at least not at first. It's definitely something you should look into if you love to write and you would like some extra income. And I will prove to you that this is not a scam, I will not bribe you to sign up to tell you the secrets, I will tell it to you all right here.

Proof? Check it out.

What is Google Adsense? And how does it work? Does it cost anything? Does Xomba cost anything?
Well if you notice a little above my article and a little below it, there are ads designed by Google. The advertisers of these ads pay you each time someone clicks on them. The cost of each click varies by different advertisers. Google Adsense is completely free - you don't have to enter ANY credit card information at all. Xomba is completely free as well, no credit card information is needed either. Xomba splits the revenue right down the middle. You get 50 percent, and Xomba gets 50 percent. Even if you sign up through my link below, you still receive 50 percent, I receive 10 percent, and Xomba receives 40 percent (but shhh, we don't tell them that.)

I'm going to be honest with you though, you can't post only 3 articles and expect to make a million bucks a day. The secret to this thing is to write .. write .. write some more .. put a little caffeine in between .. and get back to writing. If you have at least 30 minutes of your time that you spend on the internet, earn some money with it. It's a great learning experience too.

Ok, so you've read far enough now, you should sign up for Xomba through here. Once you're settled with that, sign up for Google Adsense here. Like I said, there are no hidden fees, no credit card information is needed.

For Website, just type in "Xomba.com"
The rest of the information is needed ONLY because they need information on where to send your earnings check. Once you've signed up for Google, it may take a few days for it to be registered, so keep checking your email. Once you have been registered go into your google adsense account. At the top right hand corner you should see see this ...

See where it says "Pub-#########"? Copy that, including the "pub" part. Now go log back into your Xomba account ...first click on "View My Profile", then click on the "Edit" tab like in the picture below..

Now click on the adsense tab, and paste your Client I.D. (pub-########) into the field and click submit.

WOOHOOO! All set and ready to go.

That was unnecessary, Carlton. Ok next...

Where to start. First you have to know the difference between an Xombyte and an Xomblurb.

A Xombyte is a term we use for a blog, article, or fiction that is submitted to Xomba. A Xombyte should be a full fledged piece of writing containing at least 150 words. It can contain links to other web pages but that should not be its main focus. Posts which use a link to another web page as its main focus should be Xomblurbs.

Xomblurbs are a social bookmarking tool that allows users to share links with the entire Xomba community. In a Xomblurb you can share a link to a website, article, blog, image and video.

(I stole those definitions from the FAQ page because I'm too lazy at the moment.) OH and that's another thing. If at any time you think I am not speaking human talk .. feel free to visit the FAQ page.

Ok so now that you know the difference. Let's talk about the News. Yes, the news because no one wants to talk about the weather anymore. What do we do when we hear something on the news that we want to know more about? We GOOGLE it. And how does this concern you? Well, if you write about a popular news article, chances are if you word the title and keywords right (which I will explain later on), your article can sometimes show up on the first page of google results. And that means there's traffic going to your article! And then that means that people are possibly clicking on your google ads.. and then that means money .. and then....well you know.

The most important factor is something called Google Trends. It is a list on the top 100 things that are being searched for. When you click on a "Trend" there will be articles separated into News Articles and Blogs, in my opinion it's best to click on a news article.

Funny story, in the movie Twilight, one of the characters tells the other to google what an adrenaline rush is. And come to find out later that day, "Adrenaline Rush" was one of the top 100 searches on google, ha.

Now what you do is you "Post a Xomblurb". Summarize what the full news article is into a small paragraph and use that as your summary. And now one of the most important things.. the title. Do not use a lengthy title. Something short and sweet. Something you think that a lot of people google. For example, let's say that the summary is about a Robert Patternson death rumor (please God, never.) Use your title something like "Is Robert Patterson Dead", a lot of people are probably going to google that.

Now for tags.. few simple words that describe your article.
"Robert patterson, robert patterson death, robert patterson rumor, twilight death, twilight rumor, edward cullen death" .. ect. GET CREATIVE! Then paste the link of the original news article, select "article" for the Type, and you're good to go! If it comes back saying "Title Already Exsists", swich the words around.

NEVER SUBMIT FALSE INFORMATION, PLAGERIZE, AND DO NOT POST ADULT CONTENT!
You can be suspended from Xomba. For more information, visit the Posting Policy link.

It's really a guessing game with Google, or any other website that will bring traffic to your site. Don't expect a lot of readers, but at other times you will be shocked. One user made thousands of dollars just off of one article that he didn't think would get as much traffic as he did. I'm telling you now though .. the more you write, the more traffic you're going to get daily. You don't have to write every single day though, people will still probably stumble on your articles. Don't get your hopes up too soon. My first day on adsense I made ONE penny, but 20 days later that penny turned into 60 dollars and growing. And also remember, Google does not "pay out" until you have reached 100 dollars in your account, but do not let that stop you. That will atleast pay for your gas for a month, at least at this exact moment.

I think I've covered a lot of stuff so far, feel free to add any other information that may be useful below. Any questions just send me a message. I still have a few tips and tricks if you would like to send me a message. I'm extremely tired and have to go to work. Over and out.

Thanks for the encouragement

I'm new to Xomba and made 4 cents within 2 and a half hours of joining. After that, nothing, though I've posted a lot more. Guess I'll keep trying - writing a Xomblurb only takes a few more minutes than sharing something on Facebook.

I'm curious, though - which have you found are the most profitable time vs. money wise, Xombytes or Xomblurbs?

"Won Prize"

Well, last night was a first for me at Xomba. Visiting the page I encountered a FLashing in your face that I just won a $500.00 Walmart shopping spree to buy what ever I needed. Well fine, decided to claim  it ,only to find out I did'nt really win but was eligble by becoming a "parcipant" in which I had to full fill other obligations in order to get my $500.00. They should'nt say you "WON" because you haven't untill you fullfill their requirements.  Either I won or I haven't. Which is it Walmart? Sounds like fraud to me when some one says you won something and you claim it, only to find you now have to jump through hoops of fire(not really) but does require you to do more and  may end up costing you money to claim it. Well where is judge Judy when you need her. Hey Walmart are you going to make good on the $500.00 you said I won? Idon't remember exactly but the Flashing Prize said I was the 1000000000. visitor on Xomba. So, what do you folks think about this out there. Is Walmart trying to pull a fast one. Let me kow what you think!      Foghorn

I hope I can do half as well as you

I am in no way new to the Adsense bug. I understand and the possibilities for making money, but have been unsuccessful so far with my blogs. Just can't seem to generate enough traffic. So, here I am at Xomba. I found out about this yesterday and immediately signed up and started posting. I'm up to almost 40 points so far from my posts, and just like you, made a penny in Adsense my first day (literally! I got one click for $.01). I hope I can reach that $100 mark by the end of January next year. I don't want to make a ton of money, nor am I looking to get rich quick, I just want to make at least $100 a month for "fun money". I guess I'll keep posting and see how it goes. Thanks for the info. Why did I not think of checking Google Trends? I'm glad I read this. Good luck in your future, and success to the both of us, right? -Tony (aka beeblebrux) Write, Post, and Make Money with Xomba

Congrats!

This is really well written - no wonder you are making money! $100 in a month is very good! Enjoy. Join XOMBA, Write, Make Money! My profile Blog

I make a fair amount of

I make a fair amount of revenue on here for doing absolutely nothing. I'm sure other users do as well.

so what am I doing wrong

I've been on Xomba for a couple of months, I have posted many and varied bytes and blurbs, but according to my Adsense stats, what I have done here has earned me virtually nothing. The answer seems to be that people read and like what I write but the Adsense ads that surround my work are just not relevant and interesting enough for people to bother clicking. I've done my bit for items I have read where the Adsense ads have actually been of some interest to me, but mostly they are rubbish. So, what's the secret? What we choose to write about? I'm not disbelieving you and I know you generate a lot of content here - by sharing what you do, you aren't giving anyting away, just making Xomba a more profitable and useful place to spend time. btw, I'm not an Adsense virgin, I have several blogs and a website, all running Adsense ads.
