Xomba Etiquette (PoisedGuru)

Greeting all,

Just a few quick notes on things I have seen of late. We do not wish to censor your ability to post as you please here on Xomba, but there are some guidelines I thought would have been apparent but are not. I am not singling anyone out I am merely making a list of things I have seen recently.

  • Threatening or harassing other members of the site is against the Terms of Service and your account will be suspended at the very least.
  • Language that you would not use in front of your mother, in your mother language, is not appropriate language on Xomba.
  • Please refrain from putting potentially offensive words into the titles of your Xombytes, for example fuck. Intead use some sort of place-holder like F--k etc...
  • If your post may offend someone due to a "graphic" or "explicit" scene of illegal drug use, strong sexual content, or graphic depiction of violence please warn them ahead of time. This should be done by placing a 'reader discretion advised' warning in the title as well as something in the text warning them and then a <!--Break--> tag that will determine the teaser portion of the Xombyte. Antonia's post is a good example of this in action.
  • Please refrain from replying to other users just to badger or harass them or to prompt them into an insult contest. This is unacceptable and against the Terms of Service

Everyone needs to remember that anyone can read the articles here on Xomba. They are not locked down to only registered users, so people of all ages have the ability to read the posts here without being members. As such we must show a common level of courtesy so that we do not offend people unnecessarily.

We here at Xomba need to make the site as enjoyable and useful as possible for as many people as we can. That means at times we must weigh and decide upon certain courses of action for they are in the best interest of the site and everyone involved. I hope you all understand.

Thank you.

Sorry Poised Guru!!

LadyPeninhand I didn't catch your post in time...I just posted a rather 'racy' story, that I would have added an advisory to, had I read your post first. My apologies...I will await your correction, a bit red-faced...teehee!!

Any chance?

We would ever get some sort of actual warning page. A writer could flag their material as possibly offensive and then it would fall into a category in which it's either limited to members only or has an actual page asking the person if they are alright with such content. This could avoid instances in which children may see such Xombytes as the aforementioned one. Just an idea that keeps us from censoring ourselves too much. I understand the reasons, but some pieces need a little...brashness to really bring out the emotion. Anyway, I'm bored and at school right now, so.... =D ~Corbs
