Xomba Points

Xomba Points

I've noticed that every time someone posts a Xombyte or Xomblurb, that person earns points on Xomba. Is there any purpose to these points? Can we doing anything with them or do they help us in any way? Or are the just there?

I've tried looking this up elsewhere, but haven't been able to find a definitive answer.

I have also tried to look it up in the FAQ, but this only says that "User Points are earned when certain actions are completed on Xomba. For example you gain points for submitting Xombytes or Xomblurbs, uploading an image and leaving a comment."

Does anyone know what the points are for?

They Can Only 'Do Something' w/ Points If There Are ...

The Future

We've thrown the idea around. Like features available only to our more active users. No contests based on these points. I will say that. We're thinking of having a gold, silver and bronze type user level. These levels probably won't mean much. However, it will tell us who how experienced everyone is. We'll let you guys know as soon (if)as we come up with something.

Points or StnioP

I've been using the points as a way to measure how much I am posting verses everyone else... like an speedometer to make sure I'm going the proper speed to make this successful. Anyone know if there are plans for the point to 'do something' in the future?

Fun and Goal Setting

While user points are just for fun, I must say I love using them for goal setting. I haven't been working much here till lately. But my first goal was to get off of the fourth page on the "user points" listing. Now I am on the third page...my hope is to get off of there next. Of course, working your way to the top means a lot of work! But it is still nice for the challenge.

Besides, Bobbi, Ads Happen in Writing that Refers to *Anything*

One of the best, cheapest methods of advertising is 'friends-telling-friends!' Sure, the money-factor there kind of makes friends' trust a little shaky ('am I telling you these things because I care? or because I know that people will open my profile to find out more!?' lol); but it all balances-out---everything I've told you is as true as I know, so everything I tell you in the future probably will be too. If I ever told you something untrue, then either I didn't know or it was misunderstood (or "I'm lying and you should kill me right now," ... whoa, party-on Wayne!) You've probably noticed my Amazon account (most-recently in a 'rebuttal' to Good News Magazine's harsh review of James Twymon's The Moses Code), but as you could see I wasn't numbskullédly saying, 'BUY THIS BOOK; GIT SMART REEEL GOOD!"---only offering evidence that the book could be purchased. wondering about

http://www.xomba.com/referral/7778de9b http://www.xomba.com/user/adrienne i noticed some of the promotional links as well i prefer to stick to just writing, seems like self-promotions when you are trying to sell on a writing site. good to know they are allowed to do so.

Affiliate

We allow users to post Amazon, Ebay and certain Clickbank affiliates to their Xombytes. These should not be the sole purpose of the article and they will not get any points for it.

Just My Point of View ~

I see that a lot of peoples own own amazon links for selling their stuff. I know that is okay'd in policy, BUT - What I don't understand is why get points for advertising your own products? Another part of the policy says not to do that. Why is amazon and clickbank different? I thought this is a writing site? Not a free advertising center... Just my opinion on this one ~~ I guess I shouldn't complain ~ I have an Amazon and Clickbank account. Maybe I should just advertise my stuff too and be quiet... LOL! : ) Ok, Ok, I'm done now.

A Highly Metaphorical Mind, Has He ... Yehhhhhhhhhs ...

People say they want to be on the same page as others in the discussion. They think they'll understand more if they read ver-carefully ... but (as Rawnak knows) I read a little differently---I skip the articles and get straight to the pictures ... more fun for me that way! (Be sure to imagine lots of 'lol's in there ... keeping track woulda` slowed it down.)
