Xomba Recommends: Offbeat Bride!
posted November 4, 2009 - 5:45pmThinking outside the box is getting more attention these days thanks to the Internet. More and more people are being exposed to non-traditional ideas, practices and ceremonies. Weddings, for example have been a tradition in the United States for years. White dresses, religious services, white cakes and colorful bouquets are part of the usual wedding. However, there is a growing number of people wanting a more alternative celebration. This is where the website Offbeat Bride steps in. Pandering to anyone wanting their wedding to be unique, this blog features all sorts of not-normal weddings. Themes ranging from Star Wars to Eco-Friendly can be found with pictures and details. Offbeatbride.com is an independent bride's dream.

Created by Seattle author Ariel Meadow Stallings in 2007 to support her book Offbeat Bride: Taffeta-Free Alternatives for Independent Brides the website began as a book promotion. Mrs. Stallings, who is married, can personally testify to throwing an alternative wedding. Offbeat Bride takes a step away from the norm and provides a wonderful voyeuristic glance at how other couples march to the beat of their own drum. The website is for information purposes only and supported through advertising. The blog is mostly made up of wedding profiles sent in by newlyweds as well as news and advice. One of the great things that is rare to find in credible blogs is that it is updated regularly, if not daily. The couples offer answers to their biggest challenge, what made their wedding offbeat, favorite moment and of course advice. My fiance can't get enough of the website and through her research Offbeat Bride has helped her with ideas and more importantly made her feel more comfortable with being "different".
If you are looking for an alternative themed wedding then look no further. Offbeatbride.com is the destination you and your future spouse have been wishing for. They even profile gay and international weddings. This is a prime example as to how online journalism is usurping traditional journalism. Kudos to Ariel and the staff. Xomba highly recommends this blog and requests that you look even if you're not planning a wedding. I think you'll find it entertaining at the very least.
