The Long Road Home
The Long Road HomeThe Long Road Home
“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened to you.”
“For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.” Matthew 7:7-8
As in all I do, I give God the Glory!
While talking to a friend of mine one day, she kept telling me of her desire to be closer with the Lord. I sat quietly listening to every word. My heart sank and she repeated over and over again concerning the path (road) she had chosen in her life. She kept saying " I just want to get on the right road ", and as so many people do she felt as if she needed to totally dismiss the road she had traveled. She wanted to erase every memory up until that moment. We all do it. We want to dismiss the memories. I continued to listen and I know the very moment my heart opened and these inspired words hit me. I said to my friend: Everything we have been through , every road we have traveled has led us to this very second in time. “In Christ, there is no possible way for you to be on the wrong road home, you are just on “The Long Road Home.”
The Lord turned my thoughts to Paul. Paul persecuted Christians. Paul was there when Steven was stoned. Paul had no compassion for the followers of Christ. However, one day on the road to Damascus the Lord not only touched Paul’s eyes to blind him, but The Lord touched his heart, and saved him. Then I heard this question?
“Was Paul on the wrong road that day?” Clearly the answer was no.
Paul was right where the Lord wanted him to be.
I am not excusing sin by any means. I only pray that we will learn as we travel our roads. We need to look at the forks in our roads as journeys. Some will be short cuts; some will be more easily traveled and some will be difficult. Which road you choose is not the big question. Who you choose to travel with is. Choose wisely my friends, because choosing Christ will make your road well traveled.
"The Long Road Home"
I imagined I was walking on a road one day when up ahead of me was a fork in that road. It all looked very familiar to me and then I realized I had been on that very same road looking ahead at the very same fork many times during my life.
I reminded myself as I stood there, how I had always been warned to choose which road I traveled carefully. One would be the right road, and one would be the wrong road. The choice of course would be mine and mine alone. No one would be able to choose for me. I was always left with the impression that one road would be smooth, while the other would be more difficult, full of potholes, and mountains to climb. As I stood there I reflected back to the roads I had traveled thus far, and the place to where it had led me.
I have asked and it has been given to me, I have sought,
and I have found.
I have knocked and the door has been opened to me,
Now I know where my roads lead.
You notice it doesn’t say seek and then ask,
Oh Father what should I do?
I have realized the importance of walking by grace.
When walking with Christ, both roads lead to the same place.

Christmas Gifts
In July 2006, a short 3-minute movie was launched on the Internet called The Dash. Since then, over 40 million people from around the world have watched it; and over 20,000 a day continue to watch it as a result of people passing it along. The movie has been more successful than we could have ever imagined. More importantly, however, it has inspired many, many people to reflect on their lives and ask that all important question, 'Are my priorities where they should be?' I hope you enjoy this movie and share it with those who are close to you.
Merry Christmas
A Christmas Story "Gold, Common Sense and Fur"
From an Email I received: A little lengthy, but cute.
Gold, Common Sense and Fur
My husband and I had been happily married
for five years, but hadn't been blessed with a baby.
I decided to do some serious praying and promised God that if He would
give us a child, I would be a perfect mother, love the child with all
my heart
and raise him with His Word as my guide. God answered my prayers
and blessed us with a son. The next year, God blessed us with
another son. The following year, He blessed us with yet another son.
The year after that, we were blessed with a daughter. My husband
thought we'd been blessed right into poverty. We now had four
children, and the oldest was only
four years old.
I learned never to ask God for anything unless I meant it. As a
minister once told me, "If you pray for rain, make sure you carry
an umbrella."
I began reading a few verses of the Bible to the children each day
as they lay in their cribs. I was off to a good start. God had
entrusted me
with four children and I didn't want to disappoint Him.
I tried to be patient the day the children smashed two dozen eggs on
the kitchen floor, searching for baby chicks. I tried to be
understanding
when they started a hotel for
homeless frogs in the spare bedroom, although it took me nearly two
hours to catch all twenty-three frogs.
When my daughter poured ketchup all over herself and rolled up in a
blanket to see how it felt to be a hot dog, I tried to see the humor
rather than the mess.
In spite of changing over
twenty-five thousand diapers, never eating a hot meal, and
never sleeping for more than thirty minutes at a time, I still thank
God daily for my children While I couldn't keep my promise to be a
perfect mother -- I didn't even come close -- I did keep my promise
to raise them in the Word of God.
I knew I was missing the mark
just a little when I told my daughter we were going to church to
worship God, and she wanted to bring
a bar of soap along to "wash up" Jesus, too.
Something was lost in the translation when I explained that God gave
us everlasting life, and my son thought it was generous of God to give
us his "last wife."
My proudest moment came
during the children's Christmas pageant. My daughter was playing
Mary, two of my sons were shepherds and my youngest son was
a wise man. This was their moment to shine.
My five-year-old shepherd had practiced his line, "We found the babe
wrapped in swaddling clothes."
But he was nervous a and said,
"The baby was wrapped in wrinkled clothes." My four-year-old
"Mary" said, "That's not 'wrinkled clothes, silly. That's dirty,
rotten clothes."
A wrestling match broke out between Mary and the shepherd
and was stopped by an angel, who bent her halo and lost her left wing.
I slouched a little lower in my seat when Mary dropped the doll
representing Baby Jesus, and it bounced down the aisle crying,
"Mama-mama." Mary grabbed the doll, wrapped it back up and held it
tightly as the wise men arrived.
My other son stepped forward
wearing a bathrobe and a paper crown, knelt at the manger and
announced, "We are the three wise men, and we are bringing gifts
of gold, common sense and fur."
The congregation dissolved into laughter, and the pageant got a
standing ovation.
"I've never enjoyed a Christmas program as much as this one,"
laughed the pastor, wiping tears from his eyes.
"For the rest of my life, I'll never hear the
Christmas story without thinking of gold, common sense and fur."
"My children are my pride and my joy and my greatest blessing,"
I said as I dug through my purse for an aspirin.
Jesus had no servants, yet they called Him Master.
Had no degree, yet they called Him Teacher.
Had no medicines, yet they called Him Healer.
Had no army, yet kings feared Him.
He won no military battles, yet He conquered the world.
He committed no crime, yet they crucified Him.
He was buried in a tomb, yet He lives today.
Feel honored to serve such a Leader who loves us. If you believe in
God and in Jesus Christ His Son, send this to all on your buddy list.
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!!
