Why the Santana trade makes for better baseball

With the trade of Johan Santana to the New York Mets looming, as a Yankees fan I am ecstatic that we get to keep our young pitchers entact while not letting him get to the Red Sox at the same time. Overpaying (and overtrading) for Santana would revert back to the recent failing formula of the loaded Yankee roster. Holding onto Chamberlain, Hughes, and Kennedy is a step in the right direction for the Yankees as quality pitching is now as important to the game as it was in the 60's and 70's before steroids and home runs took centerstage. The trade for Santana also proves this point.
