NASA's Phoenix Mars Landing could be a must see TV event at 6 p.m. ET on Sunday. NASA begins the live coverage of the Phoenix Mars Lander as it attempts to make the first powered landing on the red planet. You can watch the Mars Phoenix Landing Live Online as seen by NASA.
FOr TV buffs Discovery Science is covering the landing. CNN promises to have some coverage too.
Phoenix enters Mars' atmosphere at almost 13,000 miles per hour Sunday evening. Then begins the "seven minutes of hell" as per NASA engineers. This is the time when Phoenix deploys a heat shield, then a parachute, and fires thrusters to touch down at just before 8 p.m. ET. This would be the definitive moment when NASA first learns if the landing was a success.
Those watching the Mars Phoenix Lander live online will see the images at the same time as NASA and get the analysis in real time. Nice opportunity to have a real feel of things. You can be a part of that "seven minutes of hell" and arrive at crossroads arrived never before. Meaning this will be a new search for life on Mars.
For the uninitiated, Phoenix's mission is to dig for ice that scientists believe exists just below the surface, and determine if it has ever, or could ever, support life.
Best Wishes to NASA for the landing. Hope the landing is a success and we can open a new chapter into search for life on mars with this NASA's latest Phoenix Mars Lander.
Here is the full schedule of the Phoenix Lander.
There is also NASA TV that will cover related events and news briefings.
