World Chess Champion Vishwanathan Anand returned to India on 15 Oct 07 after winning the World Chess Crown. The World Championship took place from 12 Sep 07 to 30 Sep 07 at Mexico City, Mexico. This was the strongest tournament in the history of competitive chess.

- 8 players played against each other each twice in all-play-all format.

- Anand also crossed the magic figure of 2800 in his Elo ratings. (elo ratings is a system to rate players as per their playing strength)

- The prize fund won by V Anand was US $1.3 million

There is hot news about a patchup between Kareena Kapoor and Shahid Kapur.

This has really fueled rumours that the breakup may not have been for real, but merely a publicity stunt for their upcoming movie "Jab We Met".

Last night, Saif Ali Khan confessed on television to have been dating Kareena Kapoor. Of late there was a buzz about him and Kareena being together far too often and cozying up on umpteen occasions in nightclubs, post dinner. The confirmation by Saif now clears the smoke.

So it seems curtains for Shahid - Kareena relationship. It is really sad that another lovely couple had to bite the dust while paying the price of stardom. John Abraham and Bipasa Basu is another couple reported to have been grappling with impending trouble between them.

The Indian Parliamentary Standing Committee has now proposed to make ISP (Internet Service Providers) liable for third party content. This is tantamount to making ISPs responsible for the content posted by the users. Its like holding AOL, MTNL,BSNL responsible for every bit of lewd talk or criminal consiparcy over its lines.

This is a regressive step. Perhaps the committee is confusing the internet with media like TV or print where the content is self-gerenated. This is unlike the ISPs, where they are not the content generators. In case of TV and print, the content goes through a several layers of vetting and checks. This is not the case with internet sites that provide mail services, picture sharing, aggregation of social group etc.

In developed European countries and the US, courts and legislations seek to reduce the liability of service providers (ISPs) on charges of copyright infringment and defamation.

Now the question is where will the Indian Laws take the Internet ?...The way of the advanced countries or in accordance with the proposal of some mis-informed minister.

If the latter happens that would spell death knell for internet in India. It would be a classic case of short-sightedness or to coin a term - Cyber Myopia.

After Saif Ali Khan yesterday admitted on TV, he and Kareena were together, it was the turn of firebrand actress Kareena Kapoor to retort in the print media that there was nothing to clarify between her and Shahid. She also went on to proclaim, she was not single anymore.

This is then the final nail in the coffin of her relationship with Shahid.

1. The record for longest number of moves in a master game is about 22 hours playing time, but lasted four days. The game was played between chess masters Makagonov and Chekover, at Baku in 1945.The result? Draw on 171st move!
2. There is an unanimous opinion that Alexander Alekhine, Jose Raul Capablanca and Emauel Lasker were three greatest chess master who ever lived. They seldom lost their games. Yet, Akiba Rubinstein defeated each of them the first time he played them!
3. In Cleavand in 1922, JR Capablanca played 103 simultaneously games. He won 102 games, drew one and lost none. No master has ever come even remotely near to this result percentage.
4. Once a book was published in Germany titled "Advice to Spectators at Chess Tournaments". All the pages were blank except one. This page had two words "Halt's Maul !". This meant - "Keep your mouth Shut!"
5. Gideon Stahlberg of Sweden hold the record for highest number of simultaneous games ever played. The play started 10 pm on Friday 29 Aug 41 and finished at 10 am on Sunday. He played 400 games, won 364, drew 14 and lost just 22.
6. In Tournament and match pay lasting 10 years from 1914 to 1924, Jose Raul Capablanca of Cuba lost just one game !

Nostradamus was born Miguel Nostro in Munich in 1532. He was the son of a physiotherapist and was brought to France at the age of twelve, after the Prusso-Baltic War ravaged his home town. Very little is known about his early age.

At school he preferred to stay all by himself. He was silent and strangely meditative and moved about almost in a spooky manner. Academically, he was extremely bright and became apple of the eye of Mungo Pirelli, the greatest astrologer of that age.

When he became a doctor, he tended to a beautiful woman named Anne Ponsart Gemelle who was victim of plague. He eventually married the lady. But tragedy struck immediately after marriage. Barely three months after the marriage his wife died. This pushed Nostradamus to distraught and some say he was driven to utter madness.

He gave up the medical life and shut himself away in a dark scary attic room, to write. This was his great journey into predictive and prophetic world. He started writing his journal during this time. These resulting journals, written in French, became the central purpose and obsession of his life. This made Nostradamus hit fame, as they contained predictions of future events.

But there was one hitch. Witchcraft was a heinous crime in the fifteenth century. He therefore disguised his words in carefully chosen gibberish, making decoding incredibly difficult. Also, he left precise information such as dates out of the predictions, so they can only be verified with reference to events that have already happened.
He correctly predicted Adolf Hitler, Margaret Thatcher and Joseph Stalin.

Nostradamus died in 1532 as a result of cuts sustained while clearing up a broken crystal ball. Legend has it that his last act was to commission the engraving of a plaque, for burial with him upon his death. When, in 1879, his body was retrieved for reburial in his home city, the plaque was discovered for the first time. To the astonishment of all present, it read 'Lucky Lady, 3.30 Haydock Park.'
