Your Poetry On Xomba Can Be So Rewarding
posted August 27, 2009 - 11:39pmBut can you do it in 32 lines, or less? Hey, NO limits on Xomba.
Think "Epic Poem."
At least if you link to your poem on Xomba, you might find it still has the same meaning you meant to impart when you wrote it. Of course, you can't use fancy text tricks to help express the emotional component, or color -- but that might be coming. But Poetry. Can you do anything with Poetry? Your Poetry?
But then again, is it anything more than Hubris? Your ego?
Maybe you can write a poem that "sells" something.
Like. . .
Lucky Nantucket Bucket!
There was that man from Nantucket
who shopped all day with his bucket!
Instead of a bag, or a plastic sack,
the bucket went with him from rack to rack,
and when he loaded his bucket full, with fruit
or jam or spuds and ham, the tote from the store
was an easy chore, because he lived in Nantucket.
It was true he owned the bucket shop and he'd
sell you one bucket or two, so you could carry
your greens, and goods, and save the planet too.
So if you are traveling to Nantucket,
be sure to bring your bucket.
And if you don't have one to bring,
Come to the Lucky Bucket store
and we'll sell you one!
Nah? I'm kidding. You can laugh now. I worked especially hard on the last line. You know getting the Right Words . . .
Anyway if you are any good, and can write immortal words, or place your ideas in a verse or express your depth of feeling, you can not worry about selling something on Xomba.

NOW The Catch! They want to charge you $15 for the first poem you send them, and $10 for additional poems. Still, if you think you have a world class poem -- go for it. Otherwise nurse your effete hubris -- and sell something. [probably NOT Nantucket Shopping Buckets] Sell something to help Xomba, ya heah?
