"You've got Scabies!" I mean, "You've got mail!"
posted August 23, 2009 - 6:25pmA little while after the movie, "You've Got Mail" came out, I was at a friend's house. I was standing by their computer when an e-mail came in and their computer announced, "You've Got Scabies!" It sounded just like the "You've Got Mail" message from the movie so I didn't catch what was said the first time. Once another e-mail came in I was sure it wasn't saying "mail". Once I realized what was being said I though it was pretty funny. They had me listen to their voicemail too which had a similar play on the movie using scabies instead of mail.
Anyway, that was quite a few years ago but an article I was just reading on Yahoo news reminded me of it. The Brazilian Health Ministry started a new program where people with an STD can go to a website and send a virtual postcard to their partner letting them know they were tested positive for an STD and recommending they can also go get checked.
So, the next time you get a message saying, "You've Got Mail!", you can wonder if inside it will say, "You've Got Scabies!", and this time it won't be a joke.
