Whenever a person sees one cockroach in their home, they in all likelihood have a hundred or possibly even a thousand more. Cockroaches are capable of producing up to thirty egg capsules and within those capsules there could be 15 to 50 eggs. A single female cockroach can give birth to up to 30,000 roach offspring in their lifetime. Merely the sight of one roach ought to be enough warning that you've got others. Do not wait: you have get rid of them ASAP! The first thing you need to do is to clean your house. Even if you have a clean house there might be food in the cracks of your kitchen counter, a piece of old dog food underneath the couch, or a popsicle stick between the couch pillows. Pesticides are dangerous if they are not used properly and if you have small children or pets they could become sick or get poisoned. Most pesticides have a foul smell can leave an oily residue where you spray them. Unfortunately sometimes pesticides are the only way to get rid of roaches.
Many people rely on roach glue traps, but these can also be messy. The roach will step on the trap and the glue will keep it there, until insect dies from starvation or thirst. The most unsavory thing about glue traps is that you have a bunch of dead roaches that you have to clean up. Again, if you have pets or children the glue traps can be very unsanitary. There are commercial roach motels out there which have a glue trap inside a plastic container. The roach goes into the container and becomes trapped in does not come out. These are safer than be open glue traps. No matter what method you choose, once the roaches are gone you need to prevent them from coming back by keeping your home clean, and sealing up places where they might get into the house.
