Yuvraj Singh's Innings Takes India To Win - India Vs England, 1st ODI - See Final Scorecard
posted November 14, 2008 - 6:13amYuvraj Singh's innings against England seemed to be a continuation of his 20-20 World Cup innings against them and the Englishmen seem to have come up with no plan to contain him in the past year. Broad, Flintoff, Harmison and Patel all suffered at his hands. What made it worse for the bowlers was that Yuvraj played with a brace on his back! His 64 ball century was the second fastest by an Indian in ODIs (the fastest is in 62 balls by Azharrudin, my favorite player!)
India's innings got off with a brisk start with Sehwag pounding away. After Sehwag's departure, Raina took the initiative. Yuvraj suddenly took over from the 35th over during the third powerplay and Raina, Dhoni, Rohit Sharma and the bowlers remained almost spectators! England never had a chance chasing 388. They perished at 229. Bopara however provided some entertainment till the end with some lusty hitting.
