The road is located in Wildwood (formerly Ellisville)and Glencoe in West St. Louis County, MO. To get there, take Manchester Rd. West to Old State Rd. S (left), go 1 mile and turn left on Ridge Rd. Turn immediately right into the parking lot at Ridge Meadows Elementary School. Walk 20 feet to the left of the school and you are standing on Zombie Road. The Lawer Ford sign is no longer there.

There are so many stories that come out from this road. I will one day visit myself to see and feel

The road is about 2 miles long through a valley of forest hills and deadends near the Meramec River in the Glencoe area where Old State Rd. meets Hwy 109. This is where there used to be a regular railroad track and now has a mini railroad ride for kids. This is the beach area where they say "all the craziness goes down". There are dalipidated and flooded out houses and shacks in this area.
The main folk legend is that the road is haunted by a man killed by a train in the 1970's.(My research found that a woman named Della Hamilton was killed by a railroad car in 1876.) Another tale involves a boy who fell off the river bluffs and was left to rot by his friends. Other tales involve an old woman with a gun in a house near the end of the road who yells at passersby. I've also heard the ghosts may be old Indians.
I also no of a old asylum that use to be out there. A man escaped and was found bloodied up. But the main haunting I believe come from the orphans who spirits are still there troubled and were treated like crap in the place they were living.

There are many Urban Legends surrounding this road and area which have been ongoing for
decades. The main legend is that the road is haunted by a man killed by a train in the 1970's. Another
legend concerns some which were rock-climbing and one of the kids fell and broke his neck. Instead
of his friends going and getting help, they left him there dead for weeks. Then in the 1970's there is
yet another legend concerning some teenagers who were down there sniffing Pam (the non stick
cooking spray)and one guy suffocated while doing this and his friends just left him down there dead.
Also, legends exist that concern the crushed old Chevy Vega in the creek bed along this road and the
death of one or more teens who were inside it.

As a reminder 2 others that individuals and groups should NEVER trespass on any property to conduct any investigation. Trespassing is illegal and can pose dangers to people
in your group and to others as well.

The areas concerned in this artical are either privately, State or County owned. Law
enforcement and Park Ranger Services do patrol this area frequently and the nearby private citizens
monitor this area for trespassers. Violators will be reported and prosecuted by the proper legal
authorities.

Great idea for an article. I wonder how many other states and towns have a zombie road and what urban legends they carry. Good article +1
