Priya Vasudev Mani Iyer aka Priyamani is an Indian film actress and former model who was born on 4 June 1984 in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India. She is basically famous for her work in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Kannada, and Malayalam language movies. She has set up a career in regional Indian movies and is the winner of a National Film Award and three Filmfare Awards in different-language movies. Priyamani was born into a Tamil-speaking family in Bangalore to Vasudeva Mani Iyer and Latha Mani Iyer. She modeled for Kancheepuram silks, Erode silks, and Lakshmi silks during her school years. At the Twelfth Standard, Tamil Director Bharathiraja introduced her to the film industry. Her father, who is recognized by Palakkad from the Tamil Iyer family, owns a plantation business, and her mother, a former national badminton player, Lathamani, who is recognized by Thiruvananthapuram, was a bank manager at Union Bank of India.

She has an elder brother, Vishakh, who is in the plantation business with her father, while at school she effectively took part in extracurricular exercises and in sports. She is the granddaughter of Carnatic vocalist Kamala Kailas. She is the cousin of film actress Vidya Balan and the niece of playback singer Malgudi Shubha.
She made her acting debut with a leading role in the Telugu movie Evare Atagaadu in 2002 which was a box office flop. She gained public attention from the Tamil movie Paruthiveeran in 2007 for her role as village girl Muththazhagu. Not only this, she likewise received Filmfare Award for Best Actress-Tamil and National Film Award for Best Actress for her performance. During that year, she also achieved commercial success in Telugu cinema with S. S. Rajamouli-directed Yamadonga.

Priyamani received further significant praise for her role as Malavika in the Malayalam movie Thirakkatha (2008) and won a Filmfare Award for Best Actress – Malayalam. The following year, she made her Kannada movie debut in Raam, which ended up being a commercial and critical success. Priyamani made her Hindi movie debut through Mani Ratnam’s bilingual in Tamil and Hindi, titled Raavan and Raavanan respectively.
In 2012, her depiction of conjoined twins in the multilingual movie Chaarulatha, based on the Thai movie Alone, increased critical acclaim and a third Best Actress award at Filmfare. In 2014, she posed for a PETA ad campaign, asking the public to boycott zoos that feature caged Tigers. She got engaged on 27 May 2016 to Mustafa Raj in a private ceremony.
