The Hornets and the Spurs had a scoreless draw in a recent match, but professional footballer Nathaniel Chalobah didn’t feel disappointed with how their team performed. Their team has been running strong, unbeaten since Watford boss Nigel Pearson joined them. Chalobah said that the draw wasn’t something the team had to worry about.

The midfielder has a refreshingly positive perspective, stating that the team didn’t drop two points but claimed one instead. They nearly won the match with a penalty shot during the second half of the game.

“It’s a point won and they are a good side,” said Chalobah. He continues by saying that the team had a challenging start because they were up against a “possession side,” but he thinks they “did very well in the second half.” He also said that the team needs to focus on how they’re performing. The team did well during the last three or four games, and Chalobah believes that good results will follow good performance.

Watford has been running unbeaten for a whopping five consecutive matches, dating back to when the team had their 2-0 clean sheet loss in Liverpool to the Premier League leaders. Fortunately, the team finished 2019 strong and began 2020 positively.

Chalobah adds that they’re “in a very positive frame of mind” and that the team understands their current situation. The young midfielder said they would accept their point given the match’s circumstances. However, the team needs to keep improving both individually and as a group.

Similarly, Pearson is also optimistic about the situation despite the scoreless draw. He merely wants the team to remain as hot as possible while their unbeaten run goes. The team is only one point above the relegation, and they’re in a tie with West Ham for a spot on the 16th place in the Premier League table.

Over their last five matches, the Hornets have won three games in a row. The match with the Spurs could have been the fourth one, but it ended with a scoreless draw instead due to a fruitless penalty goal miss during injury time.

Chalobah says that “these things happen.” One could say or think that the team was unlucky for not winning the match, but this is a football game at the end of the day.

We will have to get around each other and go again in the next game. I couldn’t see (the goal-line clearance) from my angle, but I was just buzzing he cleared it off the line. I saw the picture when I was on the bench and thought, ‘oh my God.’

This draw marks the third consecutive game that Tottenham couldn’t score a goal during the Premier League. On the other hand, this is Warford’s eighth clean sheet for the season, which is a significant high for this season’s Premier League. However, it’s worth noting that they were also unable to score in 11 other Premier League matches.

According to Chalobah, scoring a point against Tottenham is “always something to be proud of.” He also says that the team needs to remain positive and bring the same performance to their next game.

The recipient of the penalty goal was Troy Deeney, the reason for which was a handball by Tottenham’s Jan Vertonghen. On another note, Ignacio Pussetto was also impactful during the match. He played incredibly well for a debutant, who stopped Erik Lamela’s low attempt at coming in for Ismaila Sarr, who was injured at the time. Pearson was pleased with this, and it appears that both parties are content about the shared points.
