Kennedy John Victor aka Vikram is an Indian film actor who was born on April 17, 1996, in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. He is well known for his work in the Tamil film industry. He has won seven Filmfare Awards as well as one Tamil Nadu State Film Award and National Film Award. His father, however, did not fare successfully, and only managed to act in supporting roles in Tamil movies and television serials and this inspired Vikram to take part in theater lessons and become professionally trained in classical and cinema dance forms to ensure he became a leading actor. Vikram is not only an actor but also a film producer, voice actor, assistant director and playback singer. He is very much famous in the Tollywood industry. He can be called by various names like Vikram, Kenny, and Chiyaan Vikram. He made his debut in the 1990 movie En Kadhal Kanmani which went unnoticed. After this, Vikram appeared as a rogue turned lover in the Bala’s tragedy movie Sethu which was a superhit at the box office and helpful for establishing Vikram’s career as an actor. He has appeared in many movies like Dhill (2001), Dhool (2003), Gemini (2002), Saamy (2003), Samurai (2002), Anniyan (2005), Kanthaswamy (2009), Deiva Thirumagal (2011), I (2015) and soon. Vikram met his wife, Shailaja Balakrishnan, for the first time since he was on crutches, following three years of being hospital-ridden after his broken leg in late 1980s. Vikram married Shailaja in Guruvayoor at an event which saw dozens of other couples get married at the same time. She originates from Thalassery, Kerala and now works as a psychology teacher at a leading Chennai school. He has a daughter, Akshita, and a son, Dhruv, with Vikram suggesting that his son is a keen actor. He resides near the beach in Besant Nagar, Chennai and has stated that he will remain based in Chennai regardless of any offers in other regional films.

Did you know that Vikram consequently appeared in multiple get-ups as a bodybuilder and a crippled hunchback, losing up to 35 kilograms in sequences, during the making of Shankar’s romantic thriller (2015) and receiving high critical acclaim from critics as well as from the audience for his performance? It is currently the third highest-grossing Tamil film of all time. He has promoted various social causes and appeared as the Youth Envoy for the United Nations Human Settlements Programme in 2011.

Vikram has been a brand ambassador for the Sanjeevani Trust and a school for special children named Vidya Sudha, which he stayed at during the making of Diva Thirumagalas as well as having long-term associations with Kasi Eye Care and running his own welfare association through the Vikram Foundation. He has also set up “The Vikram Foundation” through his fan club to provide heart operations for the poor, educate poor children and rehabilitate victims of natural disasters. You may not know that every year Vikram celebrates his birthday doing charity work across Tamil Nadu, and in 2008, he organized a camp where thousands of his fans pledged their eyes on an eye donation appeal.

Vikram has been the brand ambassador for Brooke Bond 3 Roses, Manappuram General Finance and Leasing Ltd and Josco Jewellers since 2010. In 2015, he endorsed Big Deal TV, a celebrity-driven home shopping channel. He is amongst the most decorated actors in terms of awards in the history of Tamil cinema. He holds a National Film Award for Best Actor; a feat only matched by four other actors in Tamil films.
