Best Action Thriller Movies 2015 You Shouldn’t Miss It
16. San Andreas (2015)
San Andreas is a disaster action thriller type of movie which was directed by Brad Peyton. The movie was released on May 29, 2015, starring Dwayne Johnson, Carla Gugino, Alexandra Daddario, Ioan Gruffudd, Hugo Johnstone-Burt and many others in a lead role. The disaster scenes in the movie are appropriately epic and the movie is professionally made by Brad Peyton, with a superstar performance from Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.
It is a good movie to watch while gulping a bottle of beer or munching some potato chips or popcorn. You might get tips on how to survive or maybe get tips on how you can die if you don’t prepare for it. The movie reminds us that we should help people if they need it, survive and use our brains in every split seconds, because when you panic, you seem to forget to watch out for your loved ones.
15. No Escape (2015)
No Escape is an action thriller movie directed by John Erick Dowdle. The movie was released on August 26, 2015, and stars Owen Wilson, Lake Bell, Sterling Jerins, Claire Geare, and Pierce Brosnan in the lead role. In the movie, Owen Wilson plays a fictional character named Jack Dwyer who has decided to move his family to Southeast Asia to start over. Thailand, I believe. He’s got a job offer there that he’s excited about.
As it turns out, this is a situation where he gets diagnosed with a bad case of being in the wrong place at the worst time. Less than 24 hours after he gets there and is all settled in, there is some sort of huge violent outbreak where all the natives have decided that they are going to mercilessly kill all the foreign people in the area and so Owen Wilson quickly finds himself running for his life with his family to try to find somewhere safe to settle in. This is just a small intro to the movie. For more, you have to watch the movie.
14. The Divergent Series: Insurgent (2015)
Insurgent is one of the best sci-fi action-thriller movies of 2015 which was directed by Robert Schwentke. The movie was released on March 20, 2015, starring Shailene Woodley, Theo James, Octavia Spencer, Jai Courtney, and many more. The movie picks up right after the end of Divergent. Tris, four, Caleb, and Peter are now seeking refuge at Amity headquarters. Meanwhile, Jeanine’s flunkies have recovered a mysterious box that claims to hold the key to “the future our people deserve.”
But this box can only be opened by a Divergent – that too, someone who shows the highest level of Divergence… someone who sounds exactly like Tris. Woodley and Teller are impressive young actors who manage to deliver charismatic performances. Its visual / technical achievements are commendable, its action is more intense, and Shailene Woodley is a terrific lead.
13. Terminator Genisys (2015)
Terminator Genisys is a sci-fi action thriller movie directed by Alan Taylor. The movie was released on July 1, 2015, starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jason Clarke, Emilia Clarke, Matt Smith, and many more. The Terminator franchise is back and it is back in a big way. Alan Taylor’s efforts in the series are great and should re-energize the once great film series. No matter how you feel about Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines or Terminator Salvation, don’t let those films stop you from checking out Terminator Genisys.
In the fifth installment of the series, the Resistance leader John Connor (Jason Clarke) is launching an attack to end Skynet and save the remaining humans. But before he gets the victory, the artificial intelligence system activates a time machine and sends a terminator back in time to 1984 to kill John’s mother, Sarah Connor (Emilia Clarke). But John manages to fix the time machine enough to send Kyle Reese (Jai Courtney) back in time also to stop the terminator.
12. The Man from U.N.C.L.E (2015)
The Man from the U.N.C.L.E. is an action thriller movie directed by Guy Ritchie. The movie was released on August 14, 2015, starring Henry Cavill, Armie Hammer, Alicia Vikander, Elizabeth Debicki, and many more. The Man from the U.N.C.L.E. is still a stylish and enjoyable movie. It is literally classy and stylish, obvious with the pretty-boy bravado of the actors and the overflow of elegant and sleek wardrobe.
With a tone that feels like a mishmash of Kingsman, Bond and Quentin Tarantino, U.N.C.L.E. is held together very loosely by its story while its direction and performances elevate it. It may have poor plot and character development for an origin story but it holds enough charisma and wit to lure viewers. It was an unexpectedly pleasant viewing experience, stirring anticipation for a sequel to come soon.
11. Bridges of Spies (2015)
Bridge of Spies is a drama action thriller movie directed by Steven Spielberg. The movie was released on October 16, 2015, starring Tom Hanks, Mark Rylance, Amy Ryan, and Alan Alda in the lead role. Bridge of Spies sees the duo of Hanks and Spielberg take on a different war: the Cold War. The movie tells the true story of the 1960 U-2 incident in which lawyer James B. Donovan negotiated the prisoner exchange of U-2 pilot Francis Gary Powers and Soviet spy Rudolf Abel after he had previously defended the latter in court and, most importantly, kept him from getting a death sentence.
And ultimately while the film can be a bit dry at times, there’s still no denying the masterclass effort that comes from Spielberg’s direction, the performances of its two main leads, and this film’s excellent representation of what life was like during the Cold War. This movie is one of the best movies of the year. It is grand and successful at all levels. Once again, Spielberg offers us a delightful and inspiring human story.
10. Ant-Man (2015)
Ant-Man is a superhero action thriller movie directed by Peyton Reed. The movie was released on July 17, 2015, starring Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly, Corey Stoll, Bobby Cannavale, and many more. As the saying goes, “Big things come in small packages”. In Peyton Reed’s Ant-Man, we meet the world’s tiniest superhero who is up to stop a global threat. Unlike other superhero films in the Marvel Comics Universe, Ant-Man is less impressive but more fun and hearty.
The movie has a number of intense and crazy visual effects and actions. Lang’s first Ant-Man attempt involving a ruckus in the bathtub, dance floor, and thick carpet as well as his training gallery (martial art session with the Hope, leaping through a hole and instructing ants to put sugar on the coffee) are some of the vivid moments. It’s a good movie to watch.
9. Black Mass (2015)
Black Mass is one of the best biographical crime action-thriller movies of 2015 which was directed by Scott Cooper. The movie was released on September 18, 2015, starring Johnny Depp, Joel Edgerton, Benedict Cumberbatch, Rory Cochrane and many others in the lead role. The Black Mass follows the career of the notorious South Boston Gangster James “Whitey” Bulger (Johnny Depp) from his beginnings in the 70’s and his deal with FBI Agent John Connolly (Joel Edgerton) through the 80’s and his rise to power until his fall in the 90’s.
“Black Mass” is definitely one of those movies that make you want to read more into the true story that inspired it. If you’re seeing Black Mass and you’re not a hardcore movie fan, you’re probably seeing it for Johnny Depp’s performance. And in that aspect, you won’t be disappointed. Depp is absolutely terrifying as Bulger, and the vampiric, devilish comparisons that have been made are quite suitable. From slicked-back hair to icy stares to piercing eyes, everything about his performance is spot-on.
“It’s not what you do, it’s when and where you do it, and who you do it to or with. If nobody saw it, it didn’t happen.” – Whitey Bulger
8. Ex Machina (2015)
Ex Machina is a sci-fi action thriller movie directed by Alex Garland. The movie was released on 24 April 2015 starring Alicia Vikander, Domhall Gleeson, Oscar Issac, Sonoya Mizuno, and many more. Ex Machina is a wonderful sci-fi, full of amazing visuals, a great script, and complex characters who are played by some very talented actors.
Alex Garland has shown that he can do much more than write the hell out of a script, and this is an impressive directorial debut. This movie is a more than worthy movie that does an extremely effective job of telling a compelling story. It’s a stunning piece of work that had us totally immersed in its world from start to finish, and it left us wanting more, in a very good way.
7. Spectre (2015)
S.P.E.C.T.R.E (Special Executive for Counter-intelligence, Terrorism, Revenge and Extortion) is the 24th James bond movie directed by Sam Mendes. The movie was released on 6 November 2015, starring Daniel Craig, Christoph Waltz, Lea Seydoux, Ben Whishaw, Naomie Harris, and many more. Spectre has everything you would need to wait for a James Bond film: globetrotting action, magnificent motors, exotic babes, classic lines and 007 kicking ass while looking exceptionally dapper.
Spectre kicks off with an extraordinary opening scene in Mexico City, where the Day of the Dead festival is taking place with thousands of people in attendance. After a hectic foot-chase through the crowded parade, Bond finds himself fighting thugs in a helicopter. This hair-raising aerial sequence is absolutely amazing and sets the standard for the rest of the film’s awe-inspiring action.
6. Jurassic World (2015)
Jurassic World is a sci-fi adventure action thriller movie directed by Colin Trevorrow. The movie was released on June 12, 2015, starring Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Vincent D’Onofrio, Ty Simpkins, Nick Robinson and many others in the lead role. Jurassic World was the most anticipated movie of the year. It is a must watch movie for those who are big fans of the Jurassic Park franchise. This movie is the fourth installment in the Jurassic Park film series. The acting and performance did by Chris Pratt as Owen Grady was incredible.
No one else can do a better job than Pratt. The story is based on the characters created by Michael Crichton. I appreciated the performance of Nick Robinson as Zach and Ty Simpkins as Gray in the movie. The movie can’t match the original for sheer creativity and impact, but it works in its own right as an entertaining, visually dazzling-popcorn action thriller movie. The dinos are bigger, better and have more teeth to satisfy the paying public. The director knows that the audience is in for an action-filled ride, scarier than last time, and gives it to them. 5. Sicario (2015)
Sicario is one of the best movies of 2015. It’s a crime action thriller movie directed by Denis Villeneuve and released on September 18, 2015. The movie features Emily Blunt, Benicio Del Toro, Josh Brolin, Jon Bernthal and many more. Kate Macer (Emily Blunt) and her partner Reggie Wayne (Daniel Kaluuya) are FBI Special Weapons and Tactical Team agents, and after raiding a house full of corpses killed by a cartel, volunteers to help Matt Graver, (Josh Brolin) a Department of Defense advisor whose leading a team on a mission to find the men in charge of the cartel with the help of Matt’s partner Alejandro Gillick (Benicio Del Toro).
The acting in the movie is fantastic, especially Emily Blunt as the idealistic, by the book, law abiding police officer. Benicio Del Toro is also really good and it’s just as much his film as Emily’s. The story moves along well too, telling you exactly what you need to know at the time, just like Emily learns in the movie. It’s also a really cool looking movie too, as it manages extremely well to capture the look and atmosphere especially of some of the most dangerous places in the movie.
4. Mission Impossible- Rogue Nation (2015)
Mission Impossible- Rogue Nation is an action thriller spy movie directed by Christopher McQuarrie. The movie was released on July 31, 2015, starring Tom Cruise, Simon Pegg, Jeremy Renner, Rebecca Ferguson, Ving Rhames and many others in a lead role. It’s the fifth installment in the Mission: Impossible trilogy. The interesting thing about the Mission Impossible series is that for having the apparent backing of the government, Hunt and other IMF agents spend most of their time going rogue or operating without approval from higher-ups.
The most impressive thing about Rogue Nation’s action scenes is that each one stands on its own. The set-pieces aren’t all the same – there’s something different in every scene. A different setting, a different weapon, different stakes. The airplane chase. Opera House shootout. The motorcycle chase. Water dive. The cafe duel. All of these scenes are up to the ante and each have their own distinct feel and that makes the experience of watching Rogue Nation very interesting and engaging.
3. Furious 7 (2015)
Furious 7 is one of my favorite action+thriller packed movies I have ever seen. The movie was directed by James Wan and released on April 3, 2015. The movie features Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Dwayne Johnson, Tyrese Gibson, Michelle Rodriguez, Chris Bridges, Jason Statham and many others in a lead role. If there’s one lesson that the Fast and Furious villains must learn, it’s that you don’t mess with family.
Well, this movie can be counted as the last movie for Paul Walker before he left the world. And I heard that he got his brother to take over him for the remaining ones that he didn’t manage to finish. I would say that both of them look super alike. I can’t even tell the difference!
I would definitely recommend you to watch this movie because the film is amazing. In Furious 7, there are three principle action scenes but the first one is certainly the most stunning. It’s a mountainside chase through a European country and it goes on for nearly a half hour. The stunt is incredible and it maintains spectacular momentum.
The Abu Dhabi scenes are incredibly fun as well and the Los Angeles war is an overlong and hilariously insane climax, in which Dwayne Johnson crashes an ambulance into a drone before stepping out with a Gatling gun and shooting down a helicopter. Overall, if you’re heading to Furious 7 for the action, you won’t be disappointed.
2. The Revenant (2015)
The Revenant is one of my most liked action thriller movies from 2015 which was directed by Alejandro G. Iñárritu. The movie was released on December 25, 2015, starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Tom Hardy, Domhnall Gleeson, Will Poulter and many others in a lead role. After watching “The Revenant” I have only one word: “awesome.” The Revenant means back from the dead and in the movie Hugh Glass literally returns from the dead.
This shows that no matter what the circumstances are, when it comes to human spirit and will power nothing can stop you. After watching The Revenant one feels connected to nature. Some shots and sequences are being shot so beautifully that they really tell a lot about the natural beauty of our planet. It is one of the most awaited or we can say that one of the most anticipated movies of 2015 which you should definitely watch.
The Revenant is all about will power and human spirit. It is a story of a person who survived through a lot of harsh conditions after being attacked by a bear. He fought with every single challenge and survived even in the harsh weather conditions. The way Leonardo DiCaprio played the role of Hugh Glass, he put life into the character. After watching the movie, I can assure you that “The Revenant” is totally worth watching. So if you are wondering whether to watch a movie or not, I recommend you watch the movie. Here is the full review of the movie- The Revenant Movie Review.
1. Mad Max: Fury Road (2015)
Mad Max: Fury Road is one of my favorite action thriller movies 2015 which was directed by George Miller. The movie was released on 15 May 2015 starring Tom Hardy, Charlize Theron, Nicholas Hoult, Hugh Keays-Byrne, Riley Keough and many others in the lead role. Mad Max grew in popularity, spawning two sequels with 1981’s Mad Max: Road Warrior and 1985’s Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome. Mad Max: Fury Road is an action movie set in post-apocalypse Australia. The known world is filled with
Mad Max: Fury Road is an action movie set in post-apocalypse Australia. The known world is filled with refugees who seek or protect gasoline along with limited supplies of food and water. Wild drivers and weaponized passengers ride a wide variety of very cool home-made or modified vehicles through the desert looking for a fight.
A female rogue transport driver has conspired with his Breeders and is taking them to Green Place where she lived as a child. Her plan is discovered and the chase begins. The characters are eclectic, memorable, and scary. The scenery is spectacular. The action scenes are extremely entertaining. The story is believable. It’s a must watch movie.
