Punjabi Movies are always popular among audiences. These movies got a good reaction from the public and are best known for the comedy genre. These movies are really good to watch with friends and family together. Some of the movies mentioned below were personally watched by me. If you belong to Punjab, you must watch that movie and I am sure, you really like that movie.

Anhe Ghore Da Daan (English: Alms for a Blind Horse) is a Punjabi language movie directed by Gurvinder Singh and produced by the National Film Development Corporation of India. It was released on October 11, 2011, starring Samuel John, Mal Singh, Kulvinder Kaur, Lakha Singh, and Gurvinder Makhna. The highly acclaimed movie is based on the Punjabi novel Anhe Ghore Da Daan published in 1976 by Gurdial Singh. It portrays the problems of the rural working class, landlords as well as Punjabi farmers.  It is one of the best Indian Punjabi Movies which won the National Awards for Best Direction, Cinematography, and Best Film at the 59th National Film Awards. The movie was shot in Bathinda City, Punjab, India. The movie was shown at the 16th Busan International Film Festival, 55th BFI London Film Festival, 49th New York Film Festival, and 68th Venice International Film Festival. The movie has also won the Golden Peacock Award for Best Film at the 43rd International Film Festival of India.

9. Khushiyaan (2011)

Khushiyaan is an Indian family movie directed by Trilok Malik and produced by Darshan Garg, D.P. Goyal, and Pradeep Bansal. It was released on October 14, 2011, starring Jasbir Jassi, Tisca Chopra, Kulbhushan Kharbanda, Deep Dhillion, Trilok Malik, Vipin Sharma, Rama Vij, Ankita Shorey. The movie is in the news for its impressive quote ” Every family has a journey….. What’s Yours?”. Raj, a well-known architect, has been living a luxurious life with his family. Somewhere a haunted feeling tells him that he needs to go back to his village and make peace with his aging father whom he greatly admires. What journey will he go through…? Will he make peace….? It is a journey of a family……you may be surprised to find yourself there.

I Am Singh is an Indian movie directed by Puneet Issar and produced by P.S. T.hind. It was released on December 2, 2011, starring Gulzar Inder Chahal, Rizwan Haider, Punnet Issar, Amy Rasima, Brooke Johnston, Tulip Joshi, Mike Singh, and Donny Kapoor. This movie is counted as the best Indian Punjabi movies. I Am Singh reveals stories of Sikh immigrants in the US after the terrorist attack of 9/11. The movie highlights what happened to few such people and their fights against it, never losing faith in the American judicial system.

7. Yaara o Dildaara (2011)

Yaara o Dildaara is an Indian Punjabi movie directed by Ksshitij Chaudhary and produced by Bhushan Kumar and Kishan Kumar. It was released on September 23, 2011, starring Harbhajan Mann, Tulip Joshi, Kabir Bedi, Gurpreet Ghuggi, Gulzar Inder Chahal, Jonita Doda, Neena Cheema, and Sunita Dheer. The movie revolves around love and relationships. It is a complete family entertainer movie which is based on two business families of Ludhiana. A romantic story that will reinstall your faith in true love. It is one of the chief Indian Punjabi movies of 2011 which is a full combination of emotions, comedy, and love.

It was released on February 4, 2011, starring Sudhanshu Pandey, Yami Gautam, Sudeepa Singh, Jaspinder Narula, Harshdeep Kaur, Bharti Singh, Rajendra Gupta, Rana Ranbir. This movie is a heartfelt attempt to conduct across the audience the message on the noble cause of organ donation and also a deeply sincere attempt to make the public aware of life after death. The movie revolves around an impaired orphaned girl called Rabia. Furthermore, the audience has to wait and watch the movie. It is really a good movie to watch.

5. The Lion of Punjab (2011)

The Lion of Punjab is a Punjabi movie directed by Guddu Dhanoa and produced by Balvir Tanda and Shikha Tanda. It was released on 31 January 2011 starring Diljit Dosanjh, Jividha Ashta, Pooja Tandon, Gurpreet Ghuggi, Vindu Dara Singh, and Deep Dhillion. Diljit Dosanjh making his debut as an actor in this movie. It is from the top Indian Punjabi movies. It is also the debut Punjabi movie of Bollywood director Guddu Dhanoa. The movie was a remake of the Tamil movie Dhool. I like the soundtrack of the movie which includes songs like “Lak Twenty Eight Kudi Da” and “Kareena Saif Tattoo”.

ਹੀਰੋ ਹਿਟਲਰ ਇਨ ਲਵ is a Punjabi romantic and action movie directed by Sukhwant Dhadda and produced by Babu Singh Maan (Maan Films). It was released on 18 November 2011 starring Babbu Mann, Mouni Roy, Bhagwant Maan, Happy, Surinder Rehal, and Sukhwant Dhadda. Babbu Mann’s story, music, dialogue, and screenplay are done. The movie tells about the life of a man called Hitler who lives in his village, Ishapura. Hitler falls in love with the Sahiban. Sahiban lives in Pakistan and Hitler decides to bring her to his village. The movie also revolves around car racing and Hitler loves to race. It is one of the foremost Indian Punjabi Movies of 2011.

3.Dharti (2011)

ਧਰਤੀ is a Punjabi movie directed by Navaniat Singh and produced by Darshan Singh Grewal, J.S. Kataria, and Jimmy Shergill. It was released on 22 April 2011 starring Jimmy Shergill, Surveen Chawla, Rannvijay Singh, Japji Khera, Binnu Dhillion, Rahul Dev, and Prem Chopra. This is one of the best Indian Punjabi movies. The movie is all about family drama with the backdrop of Punjab politics set in Punjab. The movie won six awards at PTC PUNJABI FILM AWARDS including Best Debut Male: Rannvijay Singh, Best Background Score: Anjan Viswas, Best Cinematography: Harmeet Singh, Dove Best Debut Female: Surveen Chawla, Critics Award for Best Director: Navneet Singh, Critics Award for Best Film. The movie was commercially successful at the box office.

2. Yaar Anmulle (2011)

Yaar Anmulle is an Indian Punjabi movie directed by Anurag Singh and produced by Rajan Batra, S.S Jaswal, and Vivek Ohri. I was released on 7 October 2011 starring Arya Babbar, Yuvraj Hans, Harish Verma, Juvidha Ashta, Kajal Jain, Jenny Ghottra. The movie reveals the story of three friends – Guri, Deep, and Sher Singh. Both three are studying and staying together in the hostel of the same university. In the movie, both the three friends fall in love with three different girls. Guri fell in love with the most intelligent girl in the class. Deeply fell in love with a girl who belongs to a family of desi Jatts and Sher Singh fell in love with a girl who was born and brought up in Canada. I had also watched that movie with my family. I really love that movie. The movie was full of comedy and one of the finest Indian Punjabi Movies of 2011.

ਜੀਹਨੇ ਮੇਰਾ ਦਿਲ ਲੁੱਟਿਆ is a Punjabi movie directed by Mandeep Kumar and produced by Batra Showbiz Pvt. Ltd. It was released on 29 July 2011 starring Gippy Grewal, Diljit Dosanjh, Neeru Bajwa, Binnu Dhillion. The story reveals the dashing boy Yuvraj and the handsome rebel Gurnoor studied at Punjabi University, Patiala. Until they are bedazzled by the sexy and charming, lovely Noor, whose Dad is very wealthy. Both Gurnoor’s and Yuvarj’s dads tell the boys to make her fall in love with them.

They try their own efforts to make her fall in love. The comedy opens out. This movie is a must-watch movie. I really enjoyed watching a movie with my family. The soundtrack of the movie was awesome. The movie was a hit at the box office and grossed over  12.5 crores and is one of the best Indian Punjabi Movies. It is a complete family entertainer movie.
