I am going to write an article about the top 10 best Bengali movies of 2011. The movies which are mentioned below are really really good to watch. I hope this will entice you to watch some and don’t forget to share your personal experience with us.

10. Ami Aadu (2011)

Ami Aadi, also titled Aadur Prem, is a Bengali movie in which the acting of both Deblina Chatterjee as Aadu and Samdardhi Dutta as Suleman was critically appreciated. It is impossible to believe that Deblina Chatterjee is 18 years old [at the time of the movie] and that this is her first movie. She has given a brilliant performance, which many mature actresses will find difficult to match. It is equally difficult to believe that it’s Somnath Gupta’s debut as a director. Such a wonderful job. Every shot seems to have been given a lot of thought. It’s a movie with different thoughts.

Rural Bengal has been shown in real light. The dreams, hopes, and aspirations of a young man from that kind of background have been shown with accuracy. The movie brings a good message for the common people of the countryside. This movie reminded  me of “My Name is Khan”. The main protagonists of both the films are unlucky and try to contact the most powerful man on the earth, the president of the United States.
9. Amar Bondhu Rashed (2011)

Amar Bondhu Rashed (English: My Friend Rashid) is a Bengali movie whose story is based on the novel Amar Bondhu Rashed by Muhammad Zafar Iqbal. The movie narrates the strength and patriotism of a teenager in 1971. The film received a government grant. The film depicts the story of Rashed, a student of class eight who lives in a small town. Rashed, the name was given by the class teacher on the first day at school.

In 1971, when other students were not conscious of the liberation movement, Rashed could understand the matters. Rashed started to motivate others to understand those matters. The Liberation War breaks out and Rashed along with his friends get involved with the opposition movement. They start helping the freedom fighters. This is the story of a young gun in Bangladesh which reflects our fearless martyr’s courage during the liberation war. And it’s still a motivation for our young generation. It’s a good movie to watch.
8. Bedeni (2011)

Bedeni is a drama Bengali movie which is about the primary character Radhika which deserts the girl partner in addition to starting the girl living together with Sambhu, the actual snake charmer. The biggest praise one can shower on Royal Bengal Rahasya is that it reminds the viewer of the first two Feluda movies made by the master Satyajit Ray himself. This is one of the best Bengali movies of 2011 and undoubtedly the best Feluda movie of the recent past. In the movie, you will see a new style of keeping the suspense till the end.

Royal Bengal Rahasya is a film made with care, case in point being the spotless casting in the character roles. The outdoor sequences are well shot, capturing natural beauty and reminding old viewers of the additional attraction of Feluda stories being captivating travel diaries which Satyajit Ray brought out in the first Feluda movie, Sonar Kella (The Golden Fortress) as well.
6. Chalo Paltai (2011)

Chalo Paltai (Meaning: Let’s Change) is a movie that is based on the lives and desires of the present generation of children. The story of Chalo Paltai is based on the recent educational structure in which students have to take huge pressure and fail to fulfill their dreams. The movie revolves around the relations between a father and a son.

In this movie, Prosenjit has played the character of a father whose teenage son has been pressurized by the education system and failed to fulfill his dream of playing cricket and becoming a cricketer and tried to commit suicide. The movie is based on the Marathi movie “Shikshanachya Aaicha Gho!”. It is a good movie to watch for everyone.
5. Achena Prem (2011)

Achena Prem is a 2011 Bengali movie coordinated by Swapan Saha and created under the pennant of Maa Kali Films. The film is an informal change from the hit Kannada motion picture Mussanjemaatu. Surprisingly the way that it is a revamp of the Kannada motion picture has not been specified either on the Achena Prem’s official site or in different surveys/articles on the internet Kannada melodies from the first have been likewise held in the motion picture. The melody “Kar Mone te ki Swopno Thake” is the Bengali rendition of the Kannada tune “Enagali Munde Saagu Nee” and “Tomake Bhebe Mon” is the Bengali adaptation of the Kannada tune “Ninna Nodalento”.

4. Romeo (2011)

Romeo is one of the best Bengali movies of 2011 which was released on 4 November 2011. The director tries to hammer a point that love is a responsibility, the family is of utmost importance. The storyline might border on the predictable but when you have Dev romancing an almost size zero Subhashree on screen, and that too after two years, can you ask for anything else?

The action hero indulges in a bharpur romance and tries to deliver a convincing act. Sabyasachi steals the show as a dad craving the company of his son, while Laboni as Professor Nandini Roy is a treat to watch. The movie is an official remake of the Telugu movie Konchem Ishtam Konchem Kashtam.
3. Guerrilla (2011)

This movie should appeal to a younger demographic, those who have not seen the war, as they get to see just how deep-rooted the movement for freedom was — people from all walks of life uniting to free the country. Joya’s performance holds the movie together, even when the plot falters. This is yet another feather in the cap for the accomplished actor. “Guerrilla” is indeed a must-see, especially for those who are yet to face the grave realities of a period that defines our history; a history that is cruel yet tragically inspiring. This movie is an adaptation of the novel Nishiddho Loban by Syed Shamsul Huq. It’s a must watch movie for everyone.

2. Baishe Srabon (2011)

Baishe srabon (English: 22 Srabon) is also directed by the same director, Srijit Mukherji, who directed Hemlock society. This is an entirely different genre than The Hemlock Society. The movie starts with a prostitute being killed one night and the police find the body with a Bengali poem printed out on paper. It seems that was the fourth murder in the city in the past few months.
The poems were found near all the dead bodies. If you are a fan of thriller films, it would be easy for you to guess the climax in the first ten minutes itself. The movie received an A certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification for adult language. The film takes inspiration from films like The Recruit and The Righteous Kill. so if you are a fan of decent thrillers, this one is a must watch.

Egaro, the Immortal Eleven, is one of the best Bengali movies of 2011 which is based on a historical event leading to a football match between Mohum Bagan and East Yorkshire Regiment on 29 July 1911, when India was under British rule. This was the first time that mohun bagan or any native team won the FIFA shield. Egaro is a sports film where reality has been intermixed with elements of fiction. This makes the film more entertaining and exciting, filled with moments of suspense, excitement, drama, and a bit of romance. If Kaushik Ganguly’s last outing on screen was anything to go by, “Rangmilanti” will certainly come across as a very different film. The movie is a light-hearted comedy about a girl’s indecision when she has to choose her life partner from four of her friends — Rik (Gaurav), Tito (Indrasish), DJ (Gourab), and Laden (Tanaji). The innovative format of presentation and the feel-good factor assure that the film makes the movie an entertaining watch.
However, this is not to say that “Rang Milanti” doesn’t have much for the audience to take back home. Besides the fun associated with the concept of a modern-day swayamvar of Kamalika (Riddhima), the film still manages to drive home certain basic points about the problems faced by contemporary couples that make it so challenging to maintain rock-solid relationships and marriages.
